We’ve built a much-loved consumer product that helps diners discover and book incredible restaurants while giving restaurants a powerful tool to drive demand when they need it most. With strong growth, recent funding, and an ambitious roadmap ahead, we’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to help elevate our product.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead all aspects of design at First Table. As the sole product designer, you’ll define and execute the design vision across UX, UI, and research. You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to create a world-class experience for our users while helping shape the future of design at First Table.

This role is both strategic and hands-on. You’ll have the freedom to drive meaningful changes while being embedded in the details - whether that’s improving conversion rates, refining usability, or ensuring our booking journey is seamless. This role is based partially remote in Auckland, or in-office at our Queenstown HQ.

What you'll be working on

App redesign and usability
Our iOS and Android apps generate more sign-ups and bookings than our website, yet they haven’t received the same love. That’s changing. With an upcoming rebuild, this is a unique opportunity to rethink the app experience, improve usability, and create a more intuitive and engaging product.

Refining core booking flows
First Table is simple at its heart, but over time, layers have been added that don’t always serve our users. You’ll help us strip away friction and refine our key flows - Discovery, Details, and Booking - to ensure they are as effortless and high-converting as possible.

New features and future vision
The initial focus will be on improving what we have, but you’ll also play a key role in shaping new products and features. With millions of users and a strong foundation in place, there’s huge potential to expand what First Table offers.

What we're looking for

• A product designer with experience across UX, UI, and research, comfortable working end-to-end
• Experience working on consumer products, ideally apps or e-commerce platforms
  A focus on usability and conversion, with a strong understanding of how design impacts business outcomes
• A simplifier - someone who can strip away complexity and make digital experiences feel effortless
• A strong collaborator who can work closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to bring designs to life
