Fish Restaurant is very upfront about what it does best. Chartering local waters for the very best seafood, Auckland diners are taking the bait.
Their central ethos places value on food that has travelled a short distance from its natural source to your plate, meaning that you can expect ethically caught seafood, seasonal veggies and organically reared meat from North and South Island. As for the restaurant itself, it boasts unbelievable views over the water, tricking one into believing that the ships are close enough to touch. Serene and beautiful, this is Auckland in a very elegant nutshell.
So, with kingfish from Ruakaka, mussels from Mills Bay and world-famous salmon from Mount Cook, NZ is really giving. For starters, North Island octopus is grilled for a perfectly crispy finish, salmon is dressed with a kombu butter and oysters are adorned with a chardonnay vinegar. They also have a venison tataki and goat cheese croquettes - fish isn't the only thing they've perfected!
As for mains, bigger fish like crayfish and blue cod glide into the spotlight. Fish has also mastered the art of slow-cooking with a lamb shoulder so tender it melts on the tongue, and beef eye fillet from the grassy plains of Canterbury. Yes, it might be called Fish, but they are masters of all trades.
