A sophisticated bistro with plenty of modern flare, Crown Bar & Bistro is certainly deserving of its regal name. It's housed in a grand historic building, which means there are plenty of beautiful original features that afford the whole place's character and depth. Group tables are nestled into bay windows whilst leather-upholstered booths occupy more space in the middle of all the action. What's more, with beautiful views of the coast, Crown Bar serves as an escapist's dream, albeit a very elegant one!

The menu aims to please your tastebuds with treasured plates from all over the world. Starting off more locally, we have fresh tarahiki with mashed potatoes and a rich Chardonnay sauce, as well as NZ's famous lamb shanks and green lipped mussels. Venturing further afield and in comes the vegetarian curry served with jasmine rice and karaage chicken!

From even further away come European delicacies like chicken schnitzel, chicken parmigiana and duck a l'orange. There is also fresh pasta inspired by the kitchens of Italy and (most likely) NZ family kitchens; after all, it's hard to disassociate spaghetti bolognese and carbonara from the family table.
