The Landing at The Riverhead

Standing proud with 160 years under its belt, The Riverhead has certainly stood the test of time. Indeed, as New Zealand's oldest riverside tavern, this establishment has a few stories to tell.

It welcomed noblemen, farmers, fishermen and people of the faith, offering every man and his son a hot meal to keep them fed and watered during their adventures. Today, it's a little less 'tally ho' and more distinguished with a rustic vibe that keeps Aucklanders coming back for more. It's The Landing at The Riverhead, however, that has caught our interest here. A premium pub surrounded by ancient woodland and the ocean, The Landing has sophistication in spades and is befitting any occasion, from a group reunion to a first date.

So, dock up and head to shore for a lunch or supper that will linger long in the memory. Exclusive ingredients take centre stage here with the marinated tiger prawns proving to be a hit every day of the week, or the Eye Fillet indulging the comfort eater in us all.

Other favourites include their sticky BBQ pork ribs and fish and chips. Otherwise, diners can always tuck into a mighty burger, be that beef or veggie, for a more informal vibe. And if you simply can't fit in a mango pudding or chocolate mousse, we find that an espresso martini always does the trick.
