Welcome to the Tin Hut in Tauherenikau, one of Wairarapa’s longest-standing and much-loved pubs.
This historic pub is over 160 years old, and has been a vibrant community hub throughout the centuries for locals and visitors alike. Now with a new owner, long-time local Kate Sullivan, the Tin Hut reopened in 2016 with a fresh lick of paint and reinvigorated menu. Enjoy New Zealand-inspired cuisine and gastro pub classics, like a Sunday roast, the Tin Hat burger and Monteith's Pilsner beer-battered fish and chips. Plus there are gluten-free options and tasty vegetarian dishes available, from chickpea burgers to mushroom fettuccine, there’s something for everyone at the Tin Hut!
There’s plenty to explore around the historic region, including Greytown, New Zealand’s oldest planned inland town, just 5 minutes drive away. The Tin Hut, located on State Highway 2, is the perfect spot to relax after a day’s adventure and enjoy a pint of nearby-brewed craft beer, or a stunning glass of wine from the local vineyards.
