The perfect antidote to a broken heart or bout of lovesickness, Bitters & Love always pulls through with summery Mediterranean fusion fare that'll have you falling in love all over again.

Their 400 square metre interior is spread over two floors with 4 function spaces. The building is heritage listed by the Wellington City Council and was designed in 1914 by the architect John Campbell to serve as a police station. For a touch of history, you’ll find the historical staircase inside. Redeveloped to serve as a restaurant and bar in 2000, we’ve renovated the space for an elegant dining experience and exceptional service.

Steeped in romantic feels and a schmoozy, vintage aesthetic, Bitters and Love enjoys a certain members club vibe that encourages you to succumb to the intimacy of this elegant establishment. Glossy leather furnishings are set against walls composed entirely of tree logs and creeping vines, regal Georgian windows and beautiful, contemporary lighting. Like something out of a Shakespearian romance, this eatery brings a sense of whimsical enchantment to central Welly.

The food is designed to seduce your palate. Cosy up at lunchtime with the likes of the rustic spicy sausages or bacon cheeseburger. Alternatively, go all out with the meat feast that is the Sirlion Steak, accompanied by stunning greens and fries. Familiar eats that comfort and console; it doesn't get much better than this. And that's before we get to the pizzas which pull out all the stops with irresistible cheesy slices. Finally, feel the love with a freshly-ground coffee, fun-loving cocktails or a shamelessly decadent chocolate drink. A butterscotch hot chocolate sounds like the perfect note to end on, until you eventually part ways. Oh, how bittersweet.
