Sammy's Deli and Diner creates a sense of comfort and familiarity in Ponsonby that's hard to beat and pays homage to the classic delis of New York City.

Their menu is stocked with sammies in all of their splendid glory, so it's a good opportunity to lean into what New York does so brilliantly. Sammy's specialises in injecting some fun and creativity into the classics with the likes of fried fish, or portobello mushrooms, programmed to entertain your tastebuds.

Sammy's is serious about their sammies. First up, we have their beef patty melt, which is packed to the rafters with a smorgasbord of cheese and juicy, melt-in-your-mouth beef. Teetering around the edges of the beef, cheese, onion, pickles and burger sauce. This beast is a force to be reckoned with. Their steak with crispy potatoes looks incredible, as does the chicken with smoked mash and gravy.

There's also a selection of cocktails to work through, like a spicy, tangy margarita or just burrow straight into an espresso martini.
