Before we get to what this remarkable fusion looks like, let's start with the restaurant itself which is as unique as the food it offers. Boasting a wholesome handcrafted vibe, Nikkei is effortlessly intimate with hand-stitched visions of Japan displayed gracefully over the bar and a ceiling composed of different coloured threads, much like a loom. Add to that the understated, rustic seating that comes in limited quantities and you have a really special restaurant that always has something new to offer.
Delicately treading the line between these two very different cuisines, the menu delivers on all fronts. The menu focuses on sharing, serving up delicacies like ceviche, coming in with classic raw fish as well as a Caribbean edition with tiger's milk and fried plantain. The Jalea Mix is also worth your attention with a whole host of seafood blessed with a yuzu kosho mayo and criolla sauce.
Nigiri holds a special place in the heart of Japanese cuisine. At Nikkei, you can enjoy yours with wagyu and quail egg, raw white fish with a sweet eggplant miso or raw Hokkaido scallop and parmesan.
