Rustic Restaurant

Located in one of Dunedin's most celebrated institutions, Rustic Restaurant is carrying on the family-owned restaurant's traditions with an elegant dining concept and delicious NZ plates.

Dining here is like stepping back in time. A restaurant that could also double as an antique showroom, Rustic is true to its name by furnishing the space with imposing oak closets, shelves and wardrobes that perfectly complement the huge fireplace which is always a source of comfort during winter. Wood is the predominant material here, creating an almost cabin-like feel. Not any old cabin, mind; this is a luxurious one with magnificent leather seating and a gleaming bar that's always mixing something tasty.

The menu is wonderfully modest and gives diners everything they could ever want. Up first are the favourites which single out the Rustic Kiwi beef burger, the pasta of the day, squidgy pork belly with creamy potatoes and lamb shank with seasonal veggies. As for seafood, they're turning to NZ's plentiful seas for the daily catch and salt and pepper squid.
