A cornerstone of Japanese culture, with its origin in bustling Tokyo, has now landed in Dunedin! Welcome to Takeichi, where their chicken ramen soups are as beautiful as the showstopping Japanese Maple tree that pervades over the whole establishment.

That's right, Takeichi is, quite literally, blooming. Diners halt in amazement at the sight of this illustrious bower which spreads its long branches across the whole dining room, creating a soft, pink, leafy umbrella in the process. A stunning feat of design (and kudos to the green fingers that helped it get this far!) it elevates this elegant bistro to something more diverse and dynamic. Heaps of natural light pour in from the floor-to-ceiling windows which afford the whole restaurant a light and airy feel. No wonder diners can't get enough!

Authentic to their core, Takeichi's famous chicken ramen soups are made from the very same recipes that made them so popular first in Japan, and then across the world. Take your pick of clear tori shio, spicy, or miso ramen and don't forget to customise with some extra toppings. Vegetarians, fear not. Their vegetarian clear soup and nouko soup ramens are the stuff of legends and deliver every bit of flavour as their meaty counterparts.

For those who aren't in the mood for ramen, Takeichi also serve up a delicious range of rice bowls ranging from the classic salmon don, unagi don and a range of Japanese curries with deep fried shrimp and karaage chicken. Alternatively, make it a sharing affair with some small plates of takoyaki (Japan's famous octopus balls), katsu curry, sashimi, tofu salad and a whole collection of pop-in-the-mouth maki rolls.
