Encouraging diners and visitors to take a well-deserved breather from the demands and stress of modern-day life, Mora Wines & Artisan Kitchen is the perfect place to unwind with great food, wine and company.

'Mora' means to linger or pause in Latin. Located off the shores of Lake Hayes, take a beat and feel the stress tumble away on their sunny patio or in their homey, rustic dining room. Perfect for larger groups, the interior is airy and uncluttered, pairing solid oak tables with slick white walls and modern art. It's refreshing to say the least. Outside, pretty picket fences create the form of their meticulous garden where many hours can be spent supping a Central Otago wine or your first coffee of the day.

The menu heralds honest, comforting food while showcasing the best local produce. Drop by for breakfast, where you'll eat like a king! Forget your standard eggs on toast- Mora is stepping it up a gear with seared halloumi, poached free-range eggs, and ciabatta or the apple cider sausages paired with the sweet smokiness of maple bacon and crispy ciabatta. Then there's the indulgent Mt Cook salmon with Southland fried potatoes and avocado.

Alternatively, you can tickle your sweet tooth with decadent brioche French toast with lashings of macerated blueberries or artisan waffles with pear and feijoa compote.

Lunch is another culinary triumph with shared plates that feed the body and soul. From crispy duck with a spiced orange jus to wood-fired Mount Cook salmon and tender beef cheeks, Mora invests time and effort in a variety of cooking methods that bring out the best in each ingredient. Their cellar also deserves a shoutout. With award-winning wines from all over New Zealand, every bottle is picked with the dishes in mind. So, take a leaf out of Mora's book and take a pause with fine NZ cuisine and the best-crushed grapes this island has to offer.
