The Homestead Restaurant

When it comes to The Homestead Restaurant, the clue is in the name. Heralding everything that makes Southland so unique, this cosy eatery is doing away with pretences and serving hearty meals exactly as we like them.

An open and friendly dining room awaits, along with a superb children’s play area that makes this one of Invercargill’s favourite family destinations. Press the button to send the model train off around the top of the restaurant, play on the indoor playground or grab a controller to battle it out on the gaming consoles. Or to celebrate those extra special occasions, enquire about their function space, which is just off the restaurant, opening to a shared courtyard space.

Every dish is packed with flavour and caters for all tastes. Choose from wagyu beef schnitzel and hand cut wedges, roasted Southland lamb positively drenched in pan gravy and mint sauce, and blue cod with beer battered fries and a crisp salad. Is a Southland menu complete without blue cod? We don't think so either.

If you feel like upping your 5+ a day, the menu also features a delightful mushroom risotto and a grilled cauliflower steak. Don't forget to check out their burgers and sandwiches either; these bad boys leave little to be desired.
