A friendly British pub on Lambton Quay, The Churchill is your answer to a cheery, informal feed in the city centre.
And when we say British, we really mean it. As well as the man behind the name, the restaurant heralds the figures at the cornerstone of British culture; think pop-art-style portraits of David Bowie, John Lennon and the like. And in case you've forgotten that it's a British pub, the entire ceiling is one big, colourful Union Jack. You could easily think you're in a high-street pub in London rather than downtown Wellington.
Luckily for you, there's nothing more comforting than a plate of pub grub. Start off with some chicken bites that come with a blue cheese sauce, pigs in blankets or the ultimate Yorkshire treat, mini Yorkshire puddings that come with horseradish cream and mashed potatoes. And while these starters are moreish as, don't overfill yourself; the best is yet to come.
The mains include a trio of sumptuous burgers and some dishes so British that it'd give Churchill himself a run for his money! Gorge on the likes of fish and chips, Welsh rarebit (deluxe cheese on toast to you and me) and the mighty Yorkshire pudding burrito! Yes, they seem to have a weakness for these things, but then again, so do we!
And that’s not all. The Churchill is a member of the famous Kāpura's (formerly Wellington Hospitality Group) Social Club. Points are awarded for every dollar you spend* and they don't take long to add up. Better yet, when you join the club, you will earn points at all 30 of their venues!
