Bonjour mon ami and welcome to breakfast in Paris. Located in Sofitel Queenstown, Left Bank Bistro models itself on the luxurious Parisian cafes that were frequented by the country's finest minds. Stepping into their ornate dining room is like stepping back in time. The intimate space is made even more so with heavy drapes framing the quaint windows, sparkling chandeliers announcing another dining area and glossy floors that host your recently polished brogues and stilettos. Add to that traditional French paintings and elegant furniture, and you have arrived in the City of Love.

And what a glamorous way to start the day it is too. For breakfast, they have an array of offerings that range from continental breakfasts and full breakfasts. Let's start with the continental that includes artisan baked bread, assorted cereals, freshly baked pastries and refreshing fruits. The full breakfast is much meatier with bacon and sausages, as well as eggs, fried mushrooms and all the cheese your heart desires.

If you'd prefer something more specialised, look to the a la carte menu where you'll find stuffed omelettes, bacon butties, pancakes and sweetcorn fritters. Of course, now that we're in Paris, coffee is taken very seriously, so take your pick of barista made coffees or opt for a morning cocktail if you're feeling really fancy. In Paris, there's no such thing as 'too fancy.
