In 1841, with hearts pounding and sweat glistening on their skin, some of Auckland’s first settlers dug a well to quench their thirst. Auckland’s first well can still be seen in the 150-year-old Bluestone Room, but you no longer need a bucket to quench your thirst here. This refurbished bar and restaurant offers a great range of food and drinks.
The bar offers the full range of Monteith’s craft beers on tap and around 40 different wines by the glass. The gastro menu can claim world famous burgers and includes delicious signature dishes from land and sea; try a jerk chicken burger, thai green curry or prosciutto wrapped angus eye fillet.
There’s a dish to suit every palate and entertainment to suit every taste. Wednesdays are host to pub quizzes and big screen TVs ensure you’ll never miss any sports action when the All Blacks, Blues or Warriors play.
For functions, you can hire the old-world charm of the upper floor, which features state-of-the-art audio-video technology.
Get together with friends or family and take a sip at one of New Zealand’s oldest watering holes. With a warm atmosphere and cosy fireplace, the Bluestone Room is ideal for a winter get-together.
